Wildcats lose at Western Latham

Held to 17 points in the first half, the Whiteoak Wildcats had trouble battling back against the host Western Latham Indians Tuesday night, falling in the non-conference contest, 60-41.

WHS scored eight and nine points in the first and second quarters respectively, as they were outscored 29-17 in the opening half. In the second half, WHS added 15 points in the third and nine points in the fourth quarter. On the flip side, the host Indians scored 16 points in the third and 15 points in the fourth.

The Wildcats (1-3) were led in scoring by Brandon Ashbaugh with 15 points, as he scored five two-point baskets, along with one 3-pointer, and he was also 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Jacob Burns and Kyle Marler each followed with seven points, and Cody McClure finished with six points. Michael Crowe added four points, and rounding out the scoring was Stephen Ross with two points.

Bryan Brewster led the Indians with 15 points, and Tanner Perdue scored 13 points.

WHS was 5-of-10 from the free-throw line, and they totaled four 3-pointers in the loss. Making 3-pointers were McClure with two, while Burns and Ashbaugh each made one. Western Latham went 6-of-12 from the free-throw line and made two 3-pointers.

WHS will play again on Friday as they travel to face the Manchester Greyhounds in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play.
