Wildcats blast away in OT against Rockets

The first victory of the season for the Whiteoak Wildcats took some extra time Friday night, but none of that mattered at the conclusion of the final buzzer as they defeated the Fayetteville Rockets, 79-69.
The road win also as gives WHS a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory, putting them at 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the SHAC.
WHS was led in scoring by seniors Doc Seip with 30 points and Gage Carraher with 22. Seip is averaging 21.7 points per game after three games this season.
Playing on the road for their third straight game, WHS led 13-12 after the first frame, followed by a halftime lead of 25-20, as WHS outscored FHS 12-8 in the second frame.

In the third quarter, WHS led the scoring 21-18 for an advantage of 46-38.
The fourth quarter was led by the Rockets, 23-15 forcing the overtime on their home court. In OT, WHS outscored the Rockets, 18-8.
WHS was 11-of-12 from the free-throw line in overtime and 23-of-33 from the line for the game.
The Wildcats take the court again on Friday, Dec. 14 as they will host the West Union Dragons in their home opener.
