Whiteoak girls win West Union cross-country meet

This past Wednesday, the Whiteoak girls cross-country team raced their way to a first-place finish, defeating four other schools along the way as all seven Wildcat runners tallied their best times of the season.

Participating at the meet were Eastern Brown,  West Union, Lynchburg Clay, Peebles and North Adams.

Clarissa Johnson led the way with a fourth-place finish at 24:27.

Close behind were LeAnna and Jennah Lomske in fifth and sixth place at 24:29 and 24:35.

Courtney Cummings finished eighth at 27:39, and Regan Bohrer rounded out the scoring with a time of 28:43. Kiley Sosby finished in 12th place with a time of 33:51, and Olivia Lomske was 14th at 34:19.

The junior high boys also were successful and took runner-up to Eastern Brown.

The top junior high boy for Whiteoak was Charley Skinner with a fourth place finish of 14:00.

Trever Yeager was close behind in fifth place with a time of 14:16. Other times were: Joey Oliver in ninth (14:29), Michael Crowe 10th (15:12), Zach Shannon 15th (15:56), Ian Holmes 18th (16:49), and Dawson Eakins 20th (18:18) rounded out the team scoring.

WHS did not field a team in the boys varsity or girls junior high races but had successful individual performances.

Tyler Roberts finished 12th (21:34) and Cody Feck 13th (21:36) in the boys varsity race as both were their top times of the young season.

Maggie Carr finished in sixth (16:18) and Kattie Taylor was in seventh (16:21) in the girls junior high race with their best times of the season.
