Whiteoak Girls Cross-Country wins 6 School Meet

WEST UNION — The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats earned first place in a six-school varsity cross-country meet at West Union High School last Wednesday.
The Lady Wildcats defeated Ripley by nine points in the final standings. Other participating schools were North Adams, Peebles, West Union and Eastern Brown.
Leading the way for WHS was junior LeAnna Lomske with a second-place finish, finishing at 22:17.
Clarissa Johnson finished in third place with a time of 22:54.
Whiteoak's Jennah Lomske took sixth place with a time of 23:41. Freshman Courtney Cummings had her best time of the year (26:09) to earn eighth place.
Freshmen Olivia Lomske and Kiley Sosby rounded out the scoring for the Lady Cats with 12th and 13th place finishes with times of 28:48 and 29:28, respectively.
"The girls took advantage of the good weather and quick course as each of the girls achieved their personal best for the season," WHS coach Doug Hughes said. "We have had several very good days of practice, and these girls are going above and beyond of what I ask of them. We are really starting to catch up to some teams we were really far behind just a few weeks ago. I'm proud of them."
Four Whiteoak boys participated in the varsity race. Junior Tyler Roberts led Whiteoak with a 13th-place finish (20:40).
Other scoring included: Cody Feck 16th (22:46), Travis Tracy 17th (21:49) and Corey Adams 19th (22:51)
The junior high girls continued their solid season with a third-place finish.
Leading the junior high Lady 'Cats was Maggie Carr with a seventh-place finish of 16:42. Following her were: Taylor Tackett in ninth (17:13), Kattie Taylor 10th (17:40), Regan Bohrer 14th (18:37) and Emily Edingfield 22nd (20:50).
Six junior high boys participated in the boys two-mile race. Results for the Whiteoak team included: Cody McClure 9th (14:33), Derrick Ison 12th (15:47), Tra Fields 23rd (17:47), Derrick Smith 24th (18:26), Daniel Smith 26th (19:15) and Zach Shannon 28th (20:25)
