The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats are getting closer to the consistency they want to have as a basketball team, and on Monday night, it showed with them being within one point of last year’s conference champions, but in the final minutes, the momentum didn’t keep pace.

Once the final buzzer sounded, the Lady ’Cats fell to the visiting Fayetteville Rockets, 54-47 at WHS, though it wasn’t for lack of effort by the hosts in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference matchup.

WHS trailed by just five points at the end of the first quarter, as the scoreboard read 10-5, and by the time halftime arrived it was just a one-point game, with WHS trailing by an 18-17 score after winning the quarter, 12-8.
