MOWRYSTOWN — Though Whiteoak freshman pitcher Kiley Sosby struck out 13 batters in seven innings, it wasn't enough to offset some miscues on the field and eight hits by Fayetteville, with the Lady Rockets defeating WHS 11-4 Thursday at Whiteoak High School in Southern Hills League play.
For the game, WHS tallied four hits, including a two-out solo home run in the fifth inning by Sosby. Also tallying hits were Mikayla Burns and Caitlyn Arledge.
"Mental and physical errors hurt (Thursday)," WHS head coach Bret Malone said. "I told them they aren't freshman and underclassmen without varsity playing experience anymore.
"We have players in new spots, and they are a great group of kids, they are just lacking confidence."
Of the four runs scored by WHS, two were by Sosby, with the other two from Burns and Arledge. The Lady 'Cats scored one run in the second, one in the fifth and two in the seventh.
