Highland County teams play in SHAC Preview

The 2016-17 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Preview was held on Friday night at North Adams High School. Each team in the conference played two quarters of exhibition basketball before the start of the regular season next week.
The first game of the SHAC event saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeat the the Fairfield Lady Lions 35-19. Leading LC in scoring was sophomore Peyton Scott with 15 points. Fairfield’s leading scorer was junior Grace Shope with seven points.
Also from Highland County, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats faced the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in the third game of the event. The Lady Wildcats lost by a 31-12 score. The leading scorer for WHS was Maggie Carr with six points.
Other games at the SHAC event included: Peebles vs. Fayetteville, Eastern Brown vs. Manchester and North Adams vs. West Union.
All three Highland County SHAC team will open their 2016-17 regular season schedule next Friday (Nov. 25) with games at the Lady ‘Cats Classic at Paint Valley High School. Those games include:
• Lynchburg-Clay vs. Minford, 11 a.m.
• Whiteoak vs. Batavia, 12:45 p.m.
• Fairfield vs. Waverly, 6 p.m.
