Warren County man sentenced to life in prison for rape of a child

On Wednesday, July 26, a Warren County jury convicted Todd Jeffrey Rogers, 43, of Franklin Township, Warren County, on one count of rape of a child under the age of 10 years (F1), one count of attempted rape of a child under the age of 10 years (F1) and six counts of gross sexual imposition (F3).

Rogers was sentenced to life in prison by Warren County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Peeler. His first opportunity for parole will be in 15 years.

In August of 2022, the 8-year-old victim disclosed the abuse to the victim’s mother, who then reported the abuse to the Warren County Sheriff's Office. The victim reported Rogers had been sexually abusing the victim since the age of 5 at Rogers’ residence in Franklin Township.

Rogers has been designated as a Tier III Sexual Offender, requiring him to register with the Sheriff's Office every 90 days for the remainder of his life.

“I’m so grateful that this jury listened to the testimony of [the victim], and in handing down this verdict told [the victim], ‘We believe you,’” said Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell.

Fornshell commended Detective Michael Wyatt of the Warren County Sheriff's Office, and the numerous law enforcement officers who assisted in the investigation, Forensic Interviewer Kelsey Ridgeway of the Child Advocacy Center of Warren County, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Travis Vieux, Victim Witness Coordinator Melissa Kennard and Legal Assistant Sidney Logsdon for their work on the case.
