Southern State Community College’s Theatre Department presents the world premiere of “Othering,” by the College’s own Rainee Angles, Professor of Theatre/Speech, playing April 4-6 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Southern State Community College is excited to announce the launch of a 5-week Fiber Optic course, designed for individuals of all skill levels, that will equip students with the essential skills needed to pursue a career in the rapidly growing field of fiber optics.

The Choose Ohio First (COF) Scholarship application is now available to first-time students who plan to attend Southern State Community College this fall.

Southern State Community College has announced Feb. 28 as the deadline for applications to the ADN Program (traditional pathway, five semesters).

Southern State Community College is now offering concentrations in Teacher Education to support the shortage of quality educators in our region – and at a fraction of the cost of a 4-year institution. 

February is Financial Aid Awareness Month. To celebrate, Southern State will host FAFSA walk-in clinics on Wednesday afternoons throughout the month aimed at helping current and prospective students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming academic year.

Students enrolled, or planning to enroll, at Southern State Community College for the Fall Semester, which begins in August, can benefit from various financial resources to help offset the cost of a college education.

Southern State Community College is pleased to announce Patricia Beach, of Wilmington, as the new full-time faculty member for the Department of Human and Social Services (HSSR). Beginning Spring Semester, which started January 13, Beach transitioned from a part-time faculty member to full-time status.

Twenty-six graduates of Southern State Community College’s Practical Nursing program were recognized during a Dec. 12 pinning ceremony at the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at a December 11 ceremony held on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus.

Effective Spring 2025, the College will discontinue accepting new students into the following applied associate degree and certificate programs: Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy Technician, Medical Assistant Technology, Law Enforcement, and Paraprofessional Education major.
