WC’s Obed Achirem tabbed Honorable Mention All-OAC

For the first time in his Quakers career, Wilmington College senior Obed Achirem was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Achirem earned Honorable Mention honors after a basketball season that saw him post career highs in nearly every category.

Achirem (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales HS) was fourth in the OAC in steals with 44, as he had 13 games with multiple steals including a seven-steal effort at John Carroll University on Jan. 4. This ties with a pair of other Quakers for third in program history for single-game steals.

He led the Quakers in rebounding with 148, as 108 were defensive and 40 were offensive. His 108 defensive boards were eighth in the OAC.

Achirem was second on the team with 297 points. He scored in double digits in 17 of the Quakers 25 games this season, including seven in a row to end his career. He had his two best games to end the season, scoring 18 at Capital University on 7-10 shooting and 18 at home against Heidelberg University on 6-13 shooting.

Achirem recorded one double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Muskingum University on Jan. 30. He was second on the team in made field goals (113), made three-pointers (25), made free throws (46) and was third on the team with 38 assists.
