Tigers stay undefeated in SCOL play; rally past Falcons

CHILLICOTHE — The McClain Tigers are 5-for-5 in South Central Ohio League games thus far this season.
It took another come-from-behind rally by the Tigers, but they did what they needed to do to defeat the Clinton Massie Falcons, 3-2 at Chillicothe's VA Memorial Stadium on Thursday.
MHS trailed by one run, 2-1, at the beginning of the bottom of the sixth inning, but once the inning, ended that was a different story.
The Tigers (5-0, 9-4) led off the inning with a walk by Dustin Taylor. Taylor stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Ryan Perie followed with a walk and a stolen base.
With runners on second and third, Kyle Flora hit a single to center, scoring Taylor with Perie advancing to third. Ryan Case followed with a suicide squeeze bunt to plate Perie, providing the Tigers with the eventual game-winning run.
Taylor picked up his third win for the Tigers on the mound. Taylor went the distance, striking out four Falcon batters while allowing only three hits on the day.
Both of Clinton Massie's runs were earned, crossing the plate in the first two innings.
Case led all Tiger hitters, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Tanner VanZant and Flora provided the other two hits for the Tigers.
"Dustin had another great outing for us," McClain head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "He really settled down after the first two innings and located his pitches well. He kept the Massie hitters off-balance, and our defense was solid again tonight."
The Falcons finished with three hits and no errors. MHS committed one error.
McClain will host the Hillsboro Indians on Saturday for an SCOL doubleheader starting at noon at Mitchell Park.
