FRANKFORT — The McClain Tigers finally got away from their South Central Ohio League schedule for one night. Playing in a non-league game for the first time since the first two games of the season, the Tigers went on a tear Thursday night, defeating the Adena Warriors, 10-1 at Adena High School.

The game location was switched to Adena's Bostic Field from the original spot of VA Memorial Stadium, in Chillicothe.

The location of the game didn't seem to matter to the SCOL-leading Tigers as they gained a 5-0 first half lead, scoring the same amount of goals in the second half for the eventual nine-goal win.

Adena, of the Scioto Valley Conference, scored their lone goal in the second half.

"We started slow, and I had to talk to the guys about it early on," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said. "We finally got into a groove, and then we scored and passed well for the remainder of the game."

Again, it was Daniel White leading the Tigers in the scoring column, as he gained a hat-trick for the Tigers, scoring three times.

He was followed in scoring by Geoffrey Mitchell and Steven Barber, with each McClain Tiger scoring twice.

Scoring one goal in the game were Scott Balzer, Sam Henry and Luis Rivas.

Ryan Case, the starting keeper, had one save for MHS, and Balzer tallied three saves during his time at goal in the second half.

Henry led MHS with three assists, followed by Rivas and Trey Lytle with two assists. Barber had one assist.

"Steven (Barber) was good on the defensive side for us," Jackson said. "Daniel (White) ran down the ball and put some goals away from us. Luis also handled the middle well, and Scott did a good job at keeper when we brought him in."

The Tigers are 6-2-1 overall this season, 5-0-1 in the SCOL.

"Adena is a young, second-year team, and they will be a tough team to beat in the future," Jackson said. "Hats off to them."

MHS will travel to face SCOL and Highland County rival Hillsboro at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Richards Memorial Field. In their first meeting of the season, the Tigers won, 4-1.[[In-content Ad]]
