GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers opened up their South Central Ohio League season with a win on Wednesday, at windy Mitchell Park, defeating the London Red Raiders, 4-1.
Battling gusts approaching 40 mph, the Tiger pitching and defense proved solid once again.
Dustin Taylor went the distance for the Tigers striking out five, while allowing six London hits.
London's lone run was an earned run in the first inning.
"Dustin kept the ball down in the zone and had good command of his breaking pitches," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "Our defense was solid again, and we were able to get some timely hits with runners on base."
The Tigers were led at the plate by Jacob Dillon who went 2-for-2 with a double. Brent Shannon also contributed at the plate going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
MHS totaled eight hits on the day.
The Tigers were co-SCOL champions last season with the Hillsboro Indians.[[In-content Ad]]
