Tigers narrowly fall to Blue Lions

WASHINGTON C.H. — The Tigers (2-7, 5-11) played the Blue Lions close in the first, trailing 11-10, and trailed 24-20 at the halftime break as they were outscored 13-10.

In the third, MHS was outscored 14-8, and the Tigers rallied back in the fourth frame, 10-2.

McClain's Evan Mustard led all scorers with a game-high 14 points. Ryan Faulconer followed with 11 points, and Thomas Schrader added 10 points. Trey Lytle added three points.

For the Blue Lions (5-4, 8-8), Michael Penwell led with 12 points, followed by Derek Shaw with nine points. Laike Wallace finished with eight points.

The Tigers were 11-of-19 (58 percent) from the free-throw line, while Washington was 2-of-5 (40 percent).

[[In-content Ad]]MHS sank three 3-pointers with Schrader making two, and Mustard with one. The Blue Lions made four 3-pointers with Penwell with two, while Shaw and Connor Eckles with one 3-pointer each.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 4) as they host the Hillsboro Indians in a makeup game at MHS.
