Tigers gain 3rd SCOL win; clip Golden Eagles

MT. STERLING — The McClain Tigers needed just four hits and three runs to gain their third South Central Ohio League win of the season Thursday against the Golden Eagles of Madison-Plains, winning 3-1.

The win lifts MHS to 3-0 in the SCOL and 7-3 overall. They will play Madison-Plains again Friday, this time at Mitchell Park in Greenfield.

Dustin Taylor gained the win for MHS on the mound. He went seven innings, striking out eight batters. Taylor (2-1) allowed four hits and no earned runs, while walking none.

Gaining hits for MHS were Jacob Dillon, Zach Uhl, Tanner VanZant and Kyle Flora.

Dillon scored the Tigers' first run in the first inning, followed by Ryan Duff scoring in the fifth. Flora added the third MHS run in the seventh.

MP scored their run in the third inning.

MP committed one error, and the Tigers had two.

"We had good pitching and good defense (Thursday)," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said.
