Tigers drop season opener to Warriors

GOSHEN — The McClain boys basketball team dropped their 2010-11 season opener Friday night to the Goshen Warriors, 46-39 at GHS.

The Tigers (0-1) led 22-18 at the half, scoring 12 points in the first and 10 in the second. In the first half, GHS scored nine points each quarter.

McClain had balanced scoring throughout the lineup with Aaron Pryor and Zach Matracia scoring a team-high eight points each. Scott Balzer had seven points, including a 3-pointer.

Zach Uhl scored six points, followed by Tanner Vanzant, who hit a 3-pointer to finish with five points. Jared Loftis also scored five points.

Goshen (1-0) outscored MHS 13-10 in the third and 15-7 in the fourth. In that quarter, GHS was 9-of-12 from the free-throw line.

The Tigers made 16 shots from the floor and five free throws.

FOr the game MHS had 13 turnovers, with Goshen committing 11.

MHS will play at Zane Trace High School Saturday night when they take on Piketon at 8:30 p.m. in the Zane Trace Tip-Off Classic.[[In-content Ad]]
