Tigers clip Falcons

GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers held on to the lead in the late innings Wednesday evening against the Clinton-Massie Falcons for a 12-9 South Central Ohio League win at Mitchell Park.
McClain held the lead at 2-0 after the first inning when Logan Wise and Zack Mullikin crossed home plate. Wise reached the bases with a double and Mullikin took the bases on an error.
Massie tied the game at two with runs from Phipps and Harpen.
But the tie was short-lived when Austin Wilson, Mullikin, and Jon Johnson all scored runs for the Tigers. Wilson forced a walk, followed with Mullikin reaching on the second base on balls in the inning. Johnson took first on an error.
In the top of the third, Dunlap and Stanforth both scored for the Falcons to cut the MHS lead to one run.
In the bottom of the third, the Tigers added four runs to their total for a 9-4 advantage.
Scoring for the Tigers were Wilson, Wise, Mullikin and Uhl.
The Tigers continued to add runs to their lead with two more runs to their total.
Both Wilson and Wise, who scored the runs, reached the bases via walks.
The Falcons flew back with a vengeance in the top of the fifth with five runs, cutting the MHS lead to 11-9.
MHS added one more run in the bottom of the sixth with Uhl scoring. Uhl singled in the inning, followed with Dustin Taylor hitting a RBI double.
Tyler Neville gained the win for MHS. He pitched 2 2-3 innings, allowing four runs (none earned) on seven hits and no walks.
Kyle Flora pitched two innings of relief. He struck out two batters, allowing five runs (none earned) on two hits and no walks.
Ryan Case pitched the final 2 1-3 innings of the game. Case allowed three hits and no runs.
