Southern State soccer team readies for 2011 season

The men’s soccer team at Southern State Community College is readying for the 2011 season which begins with the Southern State Soccer Shootout IX to be held Aug. 26-27, with the Patriots pitted against rival Kuyper College at 6 p.m. on Aug. 26. The consolation game will be played 10 a.m. Aug. 27, with the championship game to follow at noon.
Southern State is a member of the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference which also includes Clark State Community College, Ohio Christian University, OSU Marion, Temple Baptist College, UC Clermont and Valor Christian College. Last year, the SSCC team claimed the conference regular season title for the second year in a row and conference tournament title. They were awarded a bid to play in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Soccer National Championship and finished sixth in the nation with a season record of 15-3-2.
