River States Conference to sponsor men’s volleyball in 2024-25

The River States Conference will add its 18th championship sport next season with the inclusion of men’s volleyball.

Participating will be five current members of the RSC with Brescia University, Midway University, Oakland City University, Saint Mary of the Woods College and University of Rio Grande. They will be joined in the affiliated grouping by Mid‐South Conference members Campbellsville University (Ky.), Cumberland University (Tenn.) and Georgetown College (Ky.).

Several other members of the River States Conference are currently going through their internal process to evaluate the potential addition of the sport.

The Men’s Volleyball season is conducted in the spring semester beginning in late January and culminating to a conference championship in April. The grouping of eight participating schools will compete for an automatic qualifier to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament.

The River States Conference was founded in 1916 as the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The league underwent a re‐branding to best reflect its membership and changed its name to the River States Conference on July 1, 2016.

The River States Conference has 14 member institutions representing five states — Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Ohio River flows through the center of the geographic region of the conference and connects the five states.

The River States Conference will sponsor championships in 18 sports beginning 2024‐25. It is a proud member affiliated nationally with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

River States Conference members include Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College, Brescia (Ky.) University, Indiana University East, Indiana University Kokomo, Indiana University Purdue University Columbus, Indiana University Southeast, Midway (Ky.) University, Oakland City (Ind.) University, Ohio Christian University, Point Park (Pa.) University, the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), St. Mary‐of‐the‐Woods (Ind.) College and WVU Tech.

The River States Conference's 18 championship sports are: baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball.
