HILLSBORO — Hillsboro Post 129 held two games at their home field at Shaffer Park on Saturday in their finale of the annual Wooden Bat Tournament, but they finished the day with no wins and no runs, falling to Circleville Post 134, 9-0 and the Chillicothe Capitals, 5-0.
For the tournament, Hillsboro went 0-4, suffering losses to Washington C.H. Post 25 and Madison County Post 105 on Friday.
Hillsboro stands at 5-14 overall.
In their first game on Saturday, Post 129 trailed 1-0 after the second inning, and from there Circleville continued to add to their lead. In the fourth, the away team added three runs, one more in the fourth, and to cap off the game, scored four in the sixth inning for their nine runs.
As for Post 129, they were held hitless for the first 4 1-3 innings, until Jacob Dillon doubled with one out. He was left stranded as the next two batters went down in order.
Before Dillon's hit, Post 129 had just three base runners with Ian Adams reaching first after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. In the third, Bryce Bean walked, and in the fourth, Brady Camp forced a walk.
The double by Dillon turned out to be the lone hit for Post 129.
The loss was charged to Tucker Hughes as he finished with seven strikeouts.
In the fourth inning defensively for the Hillsboro squad, they committed two errors, allowing three runners to score, which reached the bases on a double, single and walk.
For the game, Hillsboro committed four errors.

The errant play from the first game continued in the nightcap with Chillicothe scoring a run in the first inning, which ended up being enough to take home the win.
In the first inning, Austin Hottinger (who took first base on a full-count walk) scored when he stole second, then advanced to third base. He scored on a ground out by Luke Parker.
Hillsboro trailed 1-0 until the top of the fifth where Chillicothe added three runs for a four-run lead. In the inning, the Capitals had two hits, two walks and reached base once on a error.
The final run was scored in the sixth with Ian Carle walking with one out. He stole second and was batted in on a single.
As for Post 129, they finished with one hit for the second time in the same day. The hit came in the first at-bat for Post 129 when Ian Adams singled to right field.
For the game, Post 129 had six base runners, with Jacob Dillon forcing two walks. Besides Adams (who was also hit by a pitch in the third inning) and Dillon, Taylor Smucker drew a walk (second inning) and Stephen Pappas was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning.
The loss on the mound went to Dustin Taylor, who struck out three.
