Post 129 collect wins from rain and on field

Hillsboro Post 129 baseball currently stands at 4-8 overall after gaining two rainout wins and one win on the field Sunday afternoon at the Troy Wooden Bat tournament.
Hillsboro won Sunday, 3-2 against Kalamazoo. Their two rainout wins came on Friday when they were scheduled to face Beverly and Troy.
Post 129 suffered losses against the Columbus Braves (5-4) and Ann Arbor (12-2). Also, in games before the tournament at Troy last week, Post 129 fell to the Cincinnati Storm (16-6) and are currently tied with Chillicothe Post 757 (8-8). The remainder of that game will be made up on July 5.
Hillsboro will host their annual Wooden Bat Tournament starting Friday as they will play games at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Shaffer Park to kick off the tournament. Before the tournament, they are scheduled to play at Portsmouth Post 23 on Tuesday and at Madison County Post 105 on Wednesday.

CINCINNATI — Post 129 scored their six runs in three separate innings with three runs in the third, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
The third inning began with Hillsboro's Matt Carey taking first on an infield error, followed by a two-out single by Corey Walker. Tucker Hughes followed with a single, and Matt Steele also had a base hit in the inning. Scoring for Post 129 were Carey, Walker and Hughes.
In the seventh and eighth innings, Walker, Steele and Carey scored a combined three runs.
The seventh started out with Walker (2-for-5) taking first on a one-out error, and with two outs, Steele reached the bases via an error, the second of the inning from the Storm Club infield. Both runners eventually scored as Tyler Campbell and Brady Camp each had base hits in the inning.
The run in the eighth scored by Carey began when he led off the inning with a walk. Bryce Bean also walked in the inning. Carey scored on a sacrifice fly by Hughes. For the game, Hughes finished 3-for-4 with a sacrifice.
Also in the game, Taylor Smucker reached first on an error in the sixth and walked in the seventh. Casey took the bases in the fourth on an error.
The loss was charged to Cody Shaver.
For the Storm Club, they scored one run in the first, three in the second, three in the third, three in the fourth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth innings for their 16 runs.

CHILLICOTHE — The game between Post 757 and Post 129 was suspended in the eighth inning at Mary Lou Patton Park in Chillicothe, tied at 8-8. Both teams will make up the game on July 5, when the two teams are scheduled to meet again.
Hillsboro scored their first run in the top of the first with Bryce Bean drawing a lead-off walk, stealing second and scoring on a single by Cody Shaver.
The away team added two more runs in the second with runs by Brady Camp and Tyler Campbell. In the third, Cody Shaver singled and scored on a double by Brady Camp.
In the fourth, the Post 129 team added another run when Jacob Dillon scored. He took the bases with a one-out hit by pitch.

TROY — Against the Braves on Saturday in the Wooden Bat Tournament in Troy, Hillsboro scored four runs, but those weren't enough as the Braves scored five combined runs in the second and third innings for a 5-4 win.
The Braves scored four runs in the second inning and added their final run in the third.
Post 129's loss on the hill went to Casey Jordan, who pitched six innings. He faced 27 batters, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and four walks. He hit one batter and struck out three.
Hillsboro scored their first run in the second inning with Zach Uhl scoring with an RBI from Brady Camp.
In the fifth, Jacob Dillon scored on an RBI base hit by Bryce Bean.

In the seventh, Post 129 added their final run with Matt Carey scoring a run, as he singled with two outs.
