Pioneers defeat Tigers, 58-46

      CHILLICOTHE - A second-half surge by the Zane Trace Pioneers allowed them to secure their 14th win Saturday night, as they defeated the 10-win McClain Tigers 58-46 at Zane Trace High School.

      McClain led at halftime 18-17 with an eight point first and 10 point second frame. ZT had a five point opening eight minutes and 12-point second to gain their 17 points in the opening two quarters.

      The Pioneers took the lead in the third quarter with a 19 point effort to end the third with a 34-31 advantage. In the final eight minutes, ZT outscored the Tigers 22-
14.

      MHS (10-7) was led by Zach Matracia, Logan Wise and Lucas Polle,y with all three scoring nine points each. Kameron Mace netted six points, followed by Caleb Gregory with five points. Mace, Wise and Gregory each sank one 3-pointer.

      L.T. Walters scored four points, followed with Zach Uhl and Zack Mullikin each scoring two points.

      The Tigers were 11 of 17 (65 percent) from the free throw line and made 16 field goals.

      ZT (14-4) sank eight 3-pointers, with Gabe Haynes making four against MHS. Haynes finished with 17 points, scoring 15 in the second half.
 
     Kirk Maxwell led all scorers with 20 for the Pioneers. Dallas Cochenour finished
with double figures with 10.

      ZT was 12 of 20 (60 percent) from the free-throw line. The Pioneers made 19 shots from the  field.

      MHS committed 10 turnovers, while forcing ZT into six.

      The Tigers, who now stand at 10-7 overall, will face the Miami Trace Panthers Tuesday night at MTHS. On Friday, MHS is scheduled to take on the Clinton-Massie Falcons. On Saturday, the Tigers will face Southeastern High School.
