OSU’s Dawand Jones, Luke Wypler drafted by Cleveland Browns
Ohio State football has now produced at least five draft picks for 10 consecutive years, but it was an otherwise quiet day at NFL Draft central as just two more Buckeyes were chosen in rounds 4 through 7 during the final day of the 2023 NFL Draft, being held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo.:
• OT Dawand Jones was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the 4th Round with the 111th overall pick; and
• C Luke Wypler was the 190th overall pick with the Browns choosing him in the sixth round.
Jones, 6-8 and about 359 pounds, played in 41 games for the Buckeyes and started 27 times, including 26 consecutive starts to cap his career (13 at right guard in 2021; 13 at right tackle in 2022). He was named a first-team All-American by CBSSports.com in 2022.
Wypler was with the program for three seasons. He took over the starting center responsibilities in the fall of 2021 and started all 26 games during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. A 6-3, 300-pounder, Wypler earned third-team all-Big Ten honors in 2022 after honorable mention accolades in 2021.
