Friday was a special day for Whiteoak High School and the entire Bright Local community.

District officials were proud to officially dedicate the new facility and celebrate the ribbon cutting, marking a tremendous investment that will serve students, programs and the community for many years to come.

These spaces will be used by WHS athletic teams, band, physical education classes, youth programs and community events, and are something the entire community can take pride in.

Whiteoak also had the honor of dedicating the Whiteoak High School baseball field as Chris Veidt Field, recognizing Coach Veidt’s 35 years of leadership, commitment and impact on student-athletes and the baseball program.

A Hall of Fame coach, his influence goes far beyond wins and championships, helping shape the lives of countless student-athletes who have come through the program. His dedication to maintaining and caring for the field set a standard of excellence that led to numerous Field of the Year honors, and the district can’t wait to see the future of Chris Veidt Field.

A huge thank-you to the Bright Local Board of Education, Superintendent Jason Iles, Treasurer Jeff Rowley, the Chamber of Commerce, and all of our community partners who made this project possible.

Special thanks to AstroTurf as the primary builder, along with Barnett Trucking, Lovins Fence, Stratton Electric, Swango Cabling, Hickory Valley Excavation, Bradds Concrete, Southern Ohio Concrete, TNT Sawing, Kiley Excavating, All Ways Green Landscaping, the Kolton Hamilton Foundation, and Mayor Jim Allen for their contributions and support.

"We appreciate everyone who came out to celebrate with us and continue to show what makes this community so special," Superintendent Iles said. "Go Wildcats."
