Mustangs fall in final seconds to Blanchester

     BLANCHESTER - The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs dropped a road game Tuesday evening as they lost in the final seconds to non-league opponent Blanchester 50-49.
     The Wildcats made a free throw to win the game near the end of the final quarter.
     L-C opened up the first quarter with an 18-12 lead, but was held to six points in the second, while Blanchester scored 17 to lead 29-24 at halftime.
     In the third LC tied the game with 14 points scored, holding the Wildcats to nine points in the same quarter, for a 38-38 score.
     Blanchester outscored the Mustangs 12-11 in the fourth.
     Steven Collins led L-C with 14 points. Jorden DeHaas finished with 11.
     Lynchburg-Clay head coach Jason McLaughlin told The Highland County Press the difference in the game was free throw shooting.
     Blanchester was 15 of 22 from the line, and L-C finished 5 of 7 in free throw shooting.
     The loss drops the Mustangs to 1-2 overall. L-C is 1-1 in the Southern Hills League.
     L-C will play again Friday night in SHL play as they travel to face the North Adams Green Devils at NAHS.[[In-content Ad]]
