McClain wrestling finishes 11th at MT Invitational

EBER — On Saturday (Jan. 28), the McClain Tigers competed in their toughest regular-season tournament, the McDonald's Miami Trace Invitational.
Tournament director Dan Roberts said the tournament is geared "to prepare for the league, sectional, district and state tournaments," and this year was no exception.
Nineteen teams entered the field this year, as last year McClain had an outstanding tournament, scoring 68 points, which doubled the previous year's total. This year, the Tigers accomplished the same thing, as the Tigers doubled last year's total, scoring 136 points.
MHS was able to stay on the Top 11 leaderboard for the entire tournament, being as high as seventh and finishing in 11th place.
[[In-content Ad]]Joe Unger (160), came up one win short of a championship, finishing in second place to Carome of Goshen.
Roscoe East (170) and Gary Ryan (182) both finished in fourth place. Brandon Davis (220) finished in sixth place.
Up next for the Tigers is the Washington Court House Duals on Saturday, Feb. 4. McClain is currently 12-11. The 12 victories ties the school record, which last year's team set. They will have five chances to break that mark, as they will wrestle five dual matches at the WCH Duals.
