Lynchburg-Clay routs North Adams

DODSONVILLE – One word describes the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs’ performance Wednesday evening against North Adams – dominant.
L-C took a five-goal lead at the half and kept their foot on the pedal in the second half as they defeated the Lady Green Devils 9-0.
The scoring onslaught started with junior Lindsey Rosselott with 26:50 left in the first half, followed with a goal by sophomore Brooke Hertlein at the 18:50 mark to make the score 2-0. The assist was credited to sophomore Karen Hilt with a cross kick.
Sophomore Molly Greenawalt scored 10 minutes later off a rebound for a three-goal lead. Hertlein scored her second goal of the game at the 8:10 mark of the opening half, with the assist going to junior Meredith Fittro. Hilt then gave L-C a 5-0 lead as she beat the defense of North Adams with 7:15 left in the first half.
“Our girls played well. Our ball movement was as good as it has been all season,” Lynchburg-Clay coach Dennis West said. “We are getting good effort from all of our players.”
In the second half freshman Taylor Scott scored the first two goals at 29:45 and 27:42, increasing the Lady Mustang lead to 7-0. The first of the two goals was assisted by freshman Hannah West.
Junior Lisa Rhonemus netted a goal with 22:20 remaining in the game, as her goal was assisted by Hilt. The final goal was scored by sophomore Alyssa Reynolds at the 17:21 mark on a 15-yard out.
“Several of the girls are getting comfortable with their new positions,” West said. “Our overall play has improved as a result.”
Junior Shelbi Halverson played 45 minutes at keeper with one save. Rosselott played 25 minutes at keeper, also recording one save.
L-C out shot the Lady Green Devils 29-2, Wednesday.
The Lady Mustangs play again Friday as they travel to play West Union at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, L-C will travel to take on Zane Trace at 4 p.m. in non-league play.
