Lady Tigers power past Lady Falcons for SCOL win

CHILLICOTHE — The top of the South Central Ohio League standings got a tad bit crowded Thursday night. The McClain Lady Tigers dominated the then-SCOL undefeated Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons, 10-0 in a run-rule win.
The win lifts the Lady Tigers to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the SCOL.
MHS scored two runs in the first, followed with three in the third, for a five-run advantage.
MHS came back in the fifth with three more runs and capped off the night with a two-run sixth inning, securing the run-rule victory.
The win in the circle went to senior Megan Dettwiller. She pitched all six innings, allowing no runs on five hits and one walk. The senior struck out eight, all swinging strikeouts. She forced CM into five ground outs.
"Megan was really locked in (Thursday)," MHS head coach Jarrod Haines said. "She pitched a great game and came through in the clutch with her bat."
Offensively for the Lady Tigers, they finished with 11 hits, while forcing three walks.
Leading the way at the plate for MHS was Dettwiller, Jenna Perie and Alli Willett, each with two hits. Willett was 2-for-2 with one walk and one run. Perie and Dettwiller each had three runs.
Dettwiller had a two RBI inside-the-park home run in the first inning, also scoring Cierra Landrum. The ball hit by Dettwiller went to the left field wall.
The third inning had runs scored by Dettwiller, Perie and Willett for a 5-0 lead. Perie and Brittany Mullikin knocked in the runners, with Mullikin hitting a two-run single.
In the fifth, three runs were scored by Dettwiller, Perie and Kate Crabtree. Perie knocked in Dettwiller with a double. Crabtree reached on a five-pitch walk, and both runners were batted in by a double from Morgan Dettwiller.
The final two runs came in the bottom of the sixth with Unger and Perie crossing him plate. Both runners scored on a walk-off double by Logan Greene.
"This has to be our most complete game of the season. We got pitching, hitting and defense. I am really proud of the girls," Haines said. "With the rain outs, we have really been breaking down our hitting. The girls are putting extra time in to get better, and it really showed (Thursday)."
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host the Hillsboro Lady Indians on Saturday in a SCOL doubleheader, as both games have been rained out this season. They are scheduled to start at noon at Daryle C. Unger Field in Greenfield.
