Lady Tigers gain SCOL victory against Washington

WASHINGTON C.H. — The McClain Lady Tigers scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning, more than enough to gain a South Central Ohio League win Tuesday evening, defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions 12-3 at WSHS.
MHS scored one run in the second, two in the third, one in the sixth and eight in the top of the seventh to earn the win.
The scoring for MHS began in the second with Sasha Lawwell hitting a double and scoring on a two-base knock by Alex Taylor.
In the top of the third, Kate Hammond reached on an error with one out, and scored off a home run by Jenna Perie for McClain's second and third runs of the contest.
MHS added another run in the sixth with Taylor hitting a lead-off double. With one out and two runners on base, Kate Crabtree hit a ground out to second base, which allowed Taylor to score.
Then the big inning for MHS arrived in the seventh inning.
Megan Dettwiller started off with a single and with one out Hammond doubled. Lawwell singled in Dettwiller, followed by a double from Taylor to score Hammond.
With two outs, Brittany Mullikin blasted a three-run home run to score Taylor and Lawwell.
Still in the same inning, Crabtree singled and Hyer doubled. Megan Dettwiller followed with another MHS three-run home run.
Megan Dettwiller gained the win for MHS in the circle. She allowed three runs (none earned) on seven hits and one walk. Dettwiller had three strikeouts.
Ashley Green struck out three batters in relief, allowing no runs or hits.
At the plate Taylor and Hammond each had three hits. Mullikin, Megan Dettwiller and Perie each had three RBIs, while Taylor had three doubles and two RBIs.
