Lady Tigers gain 6th win of season

FRANKFORT — The Lady Tigers of McClain outscored the Adena Lady Warriors by two points in the final quarter to seal their sixth win of the season, 35-32 at Adena High School, Thursday.
McClain (6-1) led the non-league game, 7-4, after the opening quarter but lost the second quarter, 12-10. MHS led the Lady Warriors 17-16 at halftime.
In the second half, each team scored nine points in the third, and in the fourth quarter, MHS outscored Adena, 9-7.
Chrissy Cobb led all scorers with a game-high 11 points. The senior made five two-point baskets and one free throw. Fellow senior Frankie Wise followed with nine points, making three of the four Lady Tiger 3-pointers.
Megan Hogle, a senior, made one 3-pointer, along with two free throws for five points. Kate Crabtree followed with four points, and Sammy Rooks tallied three points in the MHS win.
Jenna Perie added two points, and Brittany Mullikin connected with a free throw.
Leading Adena (5-2) was Grisby with 10 points.
Adena out-rebounded MHS 27-22, but MHS compiled more steals at 15-5. The Lady Tigers forced 28 turnovers, while committing 18. MHS was 5-of-15 (36 percent) from the free-throw line, and AHS was 2-of-4 50 percent).
The win lifts MHS to 6-1 overall. They play again on Monday, Jan. 3 against the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at LCHS. Following Monday's game, MHS will host Zane Trace (Jan. 4) and then go to Miami Trace to face the first-place Lady Panthers (Jan. 6).[[In-content Ad]]
