GREENFIELD – The McClain Lady Tigers wrapped up their final game of the 2009 regular season, falling to the London Lady Red Raiders 3-1, Thursday evening at McClain Field.

London scored two first half goals, as the Lady Tigers were unable to overcome the deficit for the win.

The first goal came with 21:06 in the first half as London’s Courtney Colwell netted her first of two goals during the game.

Alex Meyers gave London a two-goal advantage with a goal at the 13:27 mark of the first half.

McClain’s goal came in the second half, scored by senior Sarah Elrhanjaoui.

The final goal of the game was scored by Colwell with 24.5 seconds left in the second half to dash any hopes of a McClain rally.

“We controlled most of the game. We out shot them, but we just couldn’t put the ball into the net,” McClain coach Darrell Upp said. “I feel bad for the seniors, it was a heartbreaker. They played their hearts out and wish we could have won this game for them.”

London had just two shots at goal in the first half, both were made for goals.

Headed into the postseason tournament the Lady Tigers stand at 3-14 overall. The Lady Tigers finish their South Central Ohio League season at 2-8, defeating London and Washington earlier in the year.

Seniors this season for the Lady Tigers are: Sarah Elrhanjaoui, Myriah George, Jen Jones, Savanna Brown, Sarah Upp, Katie Wallen and Christy Weller.

The next game for the Lady Tigers will be Monday, Oct. 19 against Circleville at Circleville High School, with a start time of 6 p.m. in the Division II SE District Sectional Tournament game.
