Lady Patriots win over KCU (JV)
Three Southern State Lady Patriots put up double figures in scoring, and it was just enough for SSCC to gain he win, as they defeated the Kentucky Christian University (JV) team 79-71 at the Patriot Center Saturday afternoon.
SSCC sophomore and Whiteoak graduate Kayla Seip led all scorers with a game-high 33 points in the win. She made 15 two-point baskets and one 3-pointer. Seip scored 18 points in the first half.
Hannah Gobin (Connorsville, IN) finished with 12 points for SSCC. Gobin was 6 of 10 from the foul line and made three shots from the floor. Skye Lucas (Whiteoak) earned 10 points over KCU (JV). Lucas connected from downtown with a 3-poiner in the second half.
Ashlee Liston (West Union), Caitlin Davis (Clinton-Massie) and Jasmine Cumberland (Hillsboro) each scored six points. Liston sank a 3-pointer in the first half.
Kristi Beasley (West Union) and Taylor Jodrey (North Adams) each scored two points. Jessica Sexton (Peebles) made one free throw.
SSCC was 19 of 34 from the free-throw line. KCU (JV) was led by Kaycee Denton with 16 points.
KCU (JV) was 18 of 29 from the free-throw line.
