Lady Patriots drop 3rd straight game

BATAVIA — The Southern State Lady Patriots were defeated by UC Clermont 78-37 Monday evening at UC-Clermont in Batavia, their third straight loss to open the season.

Leading SSCC (0-3) in scoring were Breanna Knauff and Jessica Sexton with 10 points each. Knauff was 6-of-9 from the free-throw line, along with two field goals. Sexton was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line with two 3-pointers and one two-point basket.

Samantha Frost scored five points, with one free-throw and two field goals.

Skye Lucas and Caitlin Davis each scored four points, followed by Karissa Shivener and Brittany Walker with two points each.

As a team, SSCC made six two-part buckets and four 3-pointers. From the free-throw line, the Lady Patriots were 13-of-26.

In the first half, SSCC was outscored 44-12. In the second half, they were outscored 34-25.

Leading UC Clermont were Shannon Lorenze and Cayla Stutz with 15 points each.

UC Clermont was 16-of-27 from the free-throw line, with four 3-pointers and 25 two-point baskets.

SSCC will play again Saturday, Nov. 20 at Ohio Christian at 1 p.m. On Sunday they will play at MU Middletown at 1 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
