Lady Mustangs tie against Eastern Brown

     DODSONVILLE – Leading after the opening 40 minutes Monday night by one goal, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs allowed the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors back into the game, as both teams ended the contest with three goals each in Southern Hills League play at Lynchburg-Clay High School.

     “This was a great high school match,” Lynchburg-Clay coach Dennis West said. “The girls played aggressive soccer at both sides of the field.”

     The Lady Mustangs also honored their seniors in Alex Baker, Jessica Davidson and Cali Hatten.

     The Lady Mustangs started off the scoring with the only goal of the first half as sophomore Karen Hilt scored a goal with 25:30 left in the half off a 25-yard kick.

     Five goals combined were scored in the second half with Hilt netting two in the half at the 29:26 and 28:56 marks of the half, beating the Lady Warriors’ defense on both goals. Hilt scoredall three L-C goals.

     The goals by Hilt gave L-C  3-1 lead as Megan Bollman scored a goal with 30:16 in the second half from a cross kick by Sydney Yockey for the Lady Warriors.

     EBHS scored again with 13:33 left in the game with a goal by Allison Prine off a pass from a teammate.

     The game-tying goal came with 6:16 off a rebound, with the goal credited to Breanna Williams.

     L-C junior keeper Shelbi Halverson had nine saves. EB keeper Kaylee Purdy finished with five saves.

     Both teams also participated in the “Shot for the Cure” by each team wearing special pink and black jerseys.

     The tie moves L-C to 7-6-1 overall, 3-3-0 in SHL ply, as this game was a non-league game.
