Lady Mustangs fall to Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE — On Thursday, Dec. 2 the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs dropped their first game of the season, falling to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, 47-45.

LC trailed 15-13 after the opening frame, and 25-21 at halftime.

In the third quarter LC outscored FHS 15-6 for a 36-31 lead, but dropped the final frame 16-9.

LC was led by senior Lillian Blankenship with 17 points. Hannah Blankenship scored 10. Lillian Blankenship made three 3-pointers, and Hannah had two.

Brooke Hertlein scored eight points, followed by Meredith Fittro with four. Ashley Tenas scored two.

LC made 13 two-point shots and went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Fayetteville was led by Makayla Rosselott with 15 points and Shelby Sheets with 13. FHS was 12-of-22 in free throw shooting.
