Lady Mustangs dominate Greyhounds

     MANCHESTER – Recently the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated the Manchester Lady Greyhounds 61-38 in Southern Hills League play.

     L-C led 14-7 after the first quarter and scored 19 points in the second for a 33-16 advantage.

     Manchester outscored the Lady Mustangs in the third at 13-11, to make the score 44-29 in favor of L-C. The Lady Mustangs controlled the fourth and final quarter by netting 17 points, with their defense allowing just nine in the final frame.

     L-C senior Cali Hatten led the Lady Mustangs with 15 points, making seven shots from the field.

     Hannah Blankenship scored in double figures with 12 points, making two 3-pointers. Lillian Blankenship finished with 10 points, as the junior knocked down two 3-pointers.

     Meredith Fittro scored eight points for L-C and Laney Lewis finished with seven. Lewis, a freshman, was 5 of 7 from the free-throw line. Lindsey Hawk gained a total of six points in the win over the Lady Greyhounds. Brooke Hertlein finished with three points.

     L-C sank four 3-point baskets.

     Katie Little led all scorers as she finished with a game-high 23 points for Manchester. She made six two-point buckets, one 3-pointer and was 8 of 9 from the free-throw line in the loss.

     L-C was 11 of 16 in free throw shooting, as Manchester finished 10 of 18.
