Lady Lions drop non-league game
The Fairfield Lady Lions played a close game, but came up short Saturday afternoon as they fell to Cincinnati Landmark Christian 49-45 in non-league action.
FHS shot 16 of 52 from the field for 32 percent.
Junior Chesey Riddle led the Lady Lions in scoring with 16 points, going 6 of 17 from the field. Riddle also gained 13 rebounds (six offensive), five blocks, four steals and three assists. The junior was 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.
Senior Gabby Boone followed with 10 points, and nine rebounds (four offensive).
Megan Sword, a junior, shot 50 percent from the field at 3 of 6, finishing the game with eight points. Sword sank two free throws, and added three rebounds and three steals.
FHS senior Lauren Bowman made five free throws for a total of five points, and senior Sadie Jones scored four points. Bowman, who had five boards, led FHS with seven assists. Jones had two rebounds and one steal.
Kortney Paris, a sophomore, had two points, one rebound and one steal.
FHS was 13 of 21 from the free-throw line, and finished with 19 turnovers.
The Lady Lions made no 3-pointers and had 33 total rebounds (13 offensive).
FHS now stands at 6-4 overall.
The Lady Lions will play again Thursday, Jan. 14 as they travel to face Ripley.
