Lady Indians fall to Madison-Plains 51-25

     MT. STERLING – Allowing 28 points in the first half the Hillsboro Lady Indians came up short against their South Central Ohio League foe Madison-Plains 51-25 Friday night at MPHS.

     MPHS scored 13 points in the first quarter and 15 points in the second, building a 28-17 lead after two quarters. HHS netted four points in the first and 13 in the second.

     In the second half, the Lady Indians had problems scoring, as they had four points in each of the final two quarters.

     MPHS scored a combined 23 points in the final two quarters played.

     “We played with more effort in this game,” Hillsboro head coach Herb Mihalik said. “We are still having trouble scoring.”

     HHS was 11 of 29 in two-point shots and 1 of 8 from beyond the arc.

     Senior Shelby Coyle led HHS with nine points, sinking one 3-pointer and three shots from the floor. Fellow seniors Heather Storer had six points and Paij Shelton finished with four points.

     Junior A.J. Sanders, who led HHS with nine rebounds, scored four points and Jenni Willey had two points.

     “Paij (Shelton) and Shelby (Coyle) played good games,” Mihalik said. “Shelby was all over the floor defensively.”

     Wilson led with a game-high 18 points for the Lady Golden Eagles. Toops finished with eight for MP.
