The Xavier Musketeers squandered a halftime lead and let several second half leads slip away Saturday night, as the Richmond Spiders pulled out an 89-85 overtime victory in the Atlantic-10 Conference semi-finals.
Kevin Anderson scored 27 points and David Gonzalvez score 26 for the Spiders who reached the conference finals for the first time since 2002.
Jordan Crawford had 20 points to lead the Musketeers, who had their eight game winning streak snapped.
Greenfield's Danté Jackson was one of five Xavier players in double digits.
Jackson finished with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and five rebounds.
Xavier led by as many as nine points in the second half. However, a 9-2 run by the Spiders put them on top, 64-62.
The Spiders will face No. 17 Temple (28-5) on Sunday afternoon. Xavier (24-7) awaits its seeding in the NCAA tournament field, as March Madness hits its full stride.[[In-content Ad]]
