The Hillsboro Indians are making a late playoff push with two games remaining in the regular season as they are set to face South Central Ohio League rival Miami Trace at Richards Memorial Field.
Hillsboro guaranteed their first winning season since ’05 with their 36-21 win last week against the London Red Raiders, on the road, going so far a  perfect 4-0 with their final away game at McClain next week in the tenth game.
This week, the Indians and Panthers battle for second place in the SCOL with the Clinton Massie-Falcons clinching the championship last week.
The fight for second will feature a Miami Trace team that likes to run the football, and a team who has won their last three football games. Against the Tigers last week, MT won by a score of 10-7. The week before against London, the Panthers won in double overtime by a score of 24-21.
The Miami Trace running attack is led by 6-0, 180 pound senior running back Grant Jones and Ethan Snyder. Against the Tigers, the MT ground attack rushed for a total of 160 yards, with Snyder leading the Panthers with 78 yards rushing. Jones ended the game with 47 yards.
As for the Indians, they are looking for their seventh win of the year, as they return home for their final game at RMF. The Tribe will also be celebrating senior night.
The Tribe’s rushing game was top-notch last week, producing three running backs with 100-plus yards. Matt Gallimore led the Indians with 179 yards. Airic Steagall carried the ball 24 times for 178 yards. Aric Carroll finished the game with 112 yards rushing.
Miami Trace uses a 5-2 and 6-2 defensive scheme. The Panthers like to slant, angle and pinch on the defensive line to off-set the opposing offense.
The kickoff for the Panthers and Indians is set for 7:30 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
