Indians continue to lead SCOL; top Red Raiders

HILLSBORO — Returning home for a multiple game road trip, the Hillsboro Indians continued to keep the pace in the South Central Ohio League. This time they took the season series with the London Red Raiders, defeating their SCOL counterpart by a score of 66-60 Friday night at Hillsboro High School.

The Indians opened the game with a 24-17 lead after the first eight minutes ticked off the clock, followed with a halftime lead of 38-35 after the Red Raiders (2-7, 3-12) outscored them 18-14 in the second.

Each team scored 13 points in the third, and HHS won the final quarter a 15-12 to seal the win.

Leading the Indians in scoring was Táron Captain with 18 points. Captain made six two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and was 3-of-6 from the free-throw line.


[[In-content Ad]]Tyia Cumberland followed with 12 points, as he made six two-point buckets.

Chrsitian Cundiff also scored in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Cundiff made three 3-pointers, and was 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Also scoring for HHS were: Tyrand Cumberland (3), Devonté Ames (4), Jarrod Hart (9), Trevor Gleadle (3) and Chase Gilliland (7).

HHS was 12-of-17 from the free-throw line, and LHS was 4-of-10 as the Red Raiders had their two-game winning streak snapped.

Leading all scorers was London's Kyle Fisher with 20 points. Fisher made two 3-pointers. Justin Coffey and Antonio Wilson each followed with 13 points. Zach Carey had 11 points.

The Indians will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 31 when they host SCOL rival Miami Trace. MT handed the Indians their lone SCOL loss earlier this season at MTHS.

LHS will play again on Tuesday, Jan. 31 when they travel to take on McClain (2-5, 5-9).
