HCP Sports Blog: Nothing Comes Easy for the Reds

The theme for the Cincinnati Reds in the late innings against the L.A. Dodgers Monday night could easily have been “Nothing Comes Easy.” The good thing about the game was the Reds won 6-4, gaining a game on the Milwaukee Brewers as they lost to the Chicago Cubs.

St. Louis is also tied with the Brewers for first in the NL Central. Cincinnati is now just 3.5 games out of first.

Five games into the West Coast trip the Reds are 3-2. They still have two more games left with the Dodgers, before a day off on Thursday. Starting on Friday they will host the Toronto Blue Jays in interleague play at GABP.

Monday shows just how strange the game of baseball can be.

It looked like the Reds were going to cruise to the win, leading 6-2 before the eighth inning, capitalizing on errors and getting hits and runs when they needed. Honestly, it looked just like their fans (the ones who actually showed up), the Dodgers were ready to go home.

Looks can be deceiving, and the final two innings for the Reds proved the above theme of “Nothing Comes Easy” is true, because this season … nothing does come easy for this ball club.
