Goble to wrestle at state tournament

Lead Summary
By
The Highland County Press-
Brendon Goble will be wrestling at a state tournament.

On Feb. 20, the Greenfield Attack Wrestling Club competed in the OAC Junior High Districts at Thomas Worthington High School.

Goble, 164 pounds, was the top finisher for the Greenfield Attack, as he became the club's first ever state qualifier, finishing in 5th place.

"This is a very competitive district. Each of the GA wrestlers chose to go to this district to seek out the tough competition, and thus earn their spot at the state tournament," Coach Shane Paul said. "Most weight class brackets at Thomas Worthington have well over 20 competitors."

The top six in each weight class qualify for the state tournament to be held on March 12-13 in Youngstown.

Greenfield Attack had four wrestlers compete, all finished with at least one win.

Jake Badgley (102) finished as an alternate in 8th place. Jason Flowers (102) finished 3-2 on the day, however, being in a bracket that had 22 competitors, he fell one round short of placing. Ethan Paul (120), wrestling in a bracket that had 27 competitors, was able to secure one win.[[In-content Ad]]
