Crabtree hits 2 home runs; Lady Tigers rally past WCH

WASHINGTON C.H. — The McClain Lady Tigers got the job done again in South Central Ohio League play, Friday. Going on the road, MHS defeated the Washington Lady Blue Lions, 8-7 at Washington Senior High School.
The win by MHS was a comeback win, as they trailed 6-1 after four innings. In the final three innings, the game began to favor the Lady Tigers, as they scored seven runs to seal the win.
Of the eight runs scored by MHS, four runs were brought home on two home runs by Kate Crabtree, including a three-run home run in the seventh inning.
Washington opened up things early in the first inning, with a quick 3-0 lead, as Shears, Hayes and Daniels all scored runs for the Lady Blue Lions.
MHS came back with one run in the second with Cierra Landrum scoring off an RBI single by Willett. Landrum reached first on a one-out base hit.
Washington responded with a three-run third where Depugh, Lentz and Warning all added runs to the Lady Blue Lion lead, for a 6-1 advantage.
The fifth inning is when things changed in a big way for the Lady Tigers of McClain.
Frankie Wise hit a single, but was out on a fielder's choice, which left Megan Dettwiller at first base.
With two outs, Jenna Perie hit a two-run home run, cutting the Washington lead in half.
MHS continued to chip away, scoring again via the long ball as Crabtree hit a solo home run in the sixth, bringing the Lady Tigers within two runs.
In the seventh, MHS took the lead for the first time in the game, scoring four runs.
MHS began the seventh with Dettwiller and Perie hitting singles. With one out, on the third pitch of the at-bat, Crabtree sent the ball over the fence for the second time in the game, putting MHS up front 7-6.
The Lady Tigers added one more run in the inning when Sasha Lawwell batted in Cierra Landrum with a base hit.
Washington tried to rally to tie the score, but managed just one run in their half of the seventh, scoring Daniels, on a sacrifice by Warning.
The win went to Megan Dettwiller as she pitched in relief.
Six Lady Tigers had two hits which included: Wise, Perie, Crabtree, Landrum, Emily Sterling and Lawwell. Dettwiller, and Willett each had one hit. For the game, MHS totaled 14 hits.[[In-content Ad]]
