Babington earns national recognition for swimming victory

McClain High School graduate Tracilyn Babington has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week two weeks in a row and was chosen as the NCAA Division III National Swimmer of the Week after leading her swim team at Randolph-Macon College to a 140-122 victory against The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C.

During the meet, Babington broke the school record in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:07.50. She also won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:32.13 and was part of the winning 400-yard medley relay squad (4:13.96) and the 200 freestyle relay team (1:46.26).

According to the R-MC website, Babington is the first swimmer from the school honored as the National Swimmer of the Week since January 2006.

A Hillsboro native, Babington is currently a freshman at R-MC, located in Ashland, Va.[[In-content Ad]]
