American Legion Post 129 shuts out Galion, 11-0, in opening round of state tournament

Hillsboro Post 129 has won their first game of the state tournament, 11-0, run-ruling Galion in the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the second, scoring runs for Post 129 were Corey Walker, Cody Shaver, Jacob Dylan, and Logan Wise. Shaver, Dylan, and Wise all scored on a two-out, three-run double to the centerfield fence by Brandon Arehart.

With two outs, Walker singled through the middle, scoring Sam Louden in the third inning.

Airic Steagall hit a double to the left centerfield fence, scoring Dylan and Arehart. In the next at-bat, Zach Uhl hit a home run to the right field fence to score Steagall and himself. All runs were scored with one out.

In the two-run sixth inning, Wise hit a 2-run single down the first base line to score Louden and Brett Carrington.

Hillsboro will face Lima at Fisher-Catholic High School at 3 p.m. Monday.
