This past week the Aerial’s Acro Gymnastics Team competed at the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championships held in San Jose, California (July 23-27). The nations top 500 acrobatic gymnasts traveled to San Jose to compete in the only national championship meet of the year for acrobatic gymnastics. The pair of Caitlynn Moore (East Clinton) and Raelynne Mason (Clinton Massie) earned a first place finish in the Level 6 pair division. Also, the trio of Rosie Schreier (Clinton Massie), Caitlynn Moore, and Kiley Allen (Blanchester) earned Gold in the Level 7 trio division! All 16 members of the Aerial’s team qualified to compete at the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championships by earning top scores at the Region 5 Championships held at Tops in Centerville last month.

“I’m very proud of our entire team. This was our best year in 16 seasons for the Aerial’s team with 14 of the athletes making the top 6 in at least one of their events and a total of 13 medals won! Our goal is always to qualify to Nationals and to go there and perform our best. When our best is good enough for Gold it makes the meet even sweeter! I can’t thank the athletes and families enough for their dedication to the sport and to Aerial’s. I truly enjoy working with such a wonderful group of talented and dedicated athletes!” said Coach Angie Layne.

The Aerial’s Acro Team is coached by former National Champions, Angie Layne and Tina Maynard. Assistant Coaches are Taylor Wilkin and Melissa Shepherd. The 2011-2012 tryout/clinic will be held Tuesdays, August 16, 23, & 30 at the Wilmington Gym on Davids Drive. For more information about the team or classes call 937-383-5700.[[In-content Ad]]
