14 Wilmington Quakers recognized as Winter Academic All-OAC
The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced their 2023-24 Winter Academic All-OAC honorees Tuesday morning, and Wilmington College had 14 student-athletes on the list across five different sports.
The Quakers men's basketball team had the most honorees with five. Honored for the second time in their careers were juniors Bryce Bird (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon East HS) and Gavin Heimlich (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder HS). Recognized for the first time in their Quakers career were sophomores Collin Barker (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS), Zach McGuirt (Saint Anne, Ill./Grace Baptist Academy) and Jed Smith (Beloit, Ohio/West Branch HS).
Wilmington wrestling had the second-most athletes recognized with four. Senior Dillon Howard (West Alexandria, Ohio/Twin Valley South HS) and junior Garrett Simmons (Frankfort, Ohio/Adena HS) were both honored for the second time in their careers. First-time honorees for the Quakers were sophomores Tim Lewellen (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) and Brayden Smith (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS).
The Quakers men's and women's swimming teams both had two honorees. On the men's side, junior Austin Reed was recognized for the second time in his career and sophomore Sondre Haugen earned his first honoree. Senior Audrey Bibb (Austin, Texas/McNeil HS) was named for the third time in her Quakers career, while junior Shannon O'Boyle (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS) was honored for the second time.
From women's basketball, junior Magarah Bloom (Washington Court House, Ohio/Miami Trace HS) was recognized for the first time in her Wilmington career.
