Wildcats drop recent games against Zane Trace and Valley

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, the Whiteoak Wildcats played in two home non-conference games where they fell to the Zane Trace Pioneers and the Valley Indians. 

On Monday (May 11), the Wildcats lost by a 10-0 score in five innings at WHS. The Pioneers in the top of the first scored a run, then added one run in each of the next three innings for a 4-0 advantage after the fourth inning was completed. 

ZTHS took a 10-run lead when they had a six-run fifth inning. The Pioneers finished the game with nine hits and no errors. 

The Wildcats totaled two hits and two errors. 

Whiteoak’s hits were from Caden Butler (1-for-2) and Jacob Kiley (1-for-2). Jonah Michael pitched five innings with two strikeouts.

Tuesday evening (May 12), the Whiteoak Wildcats fell in extra innings by a 6-2 score in eight innings at WHS. 

Whiteoak scored a run in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead, then Valley tied the score with a run in the top of the third. 

Valley took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth, but Whiteoak tied the score and forced extra innings with a run in the bottom of the seventh for a 2-2 score. 

Valley gained the win with four runs in the top of the eighth inning, as Whiteoak was scoreless in the bottom of the eighth. 

Valley finished with six hits and four errors, while Whiteoak had eight hits and one error. 

Caden Butler finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jonah Michael went 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. 

Izayah Clift went 1-for-3 with a walk. Abe Flader ended the game at 1-for-3 with a walk and a steal. 

Jacob Kiley was 1-for-4, while Gabe Michael finished 1-for-3 with a HBP. The Wildcats also had Christian Hite with a sacrifice. Lucas Pollard finished with an RBI. 

Clift pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Jude Michael pitched one inning where he had one strikeout in relief. 

WHS now stands at 10-15 overall this season.
