Wildcats drop doubleheader at South Webster

The 2025 season started for the Whiteoak Wildcats baseball team on the road Saturday (March 29), where they lost both games of a doubleheader by scores of 11-0 and 8-6.
In the game where WHS fell by an 11-0 score, the South Webster Jeeps scored three runs in the bottom of the first, followed by a two-run third inning and six runs in the bottom of the fourth.
WHS finished with four hits, as Jacob Kiley was 2-for-2, Jonah Michael went 1-for-2 with a double and Camron Storms was 1-for-1. Zander Roades had one steal, and Abraham Flader also had a steal. Forcing walks were Roades, Michael, Flader, Christian Hite, Izayah Clift and Charlie Starks.
For the game, WHS totaled six walks and two steals.
Roades was charged with the loss, as he allowed just one earned run on four hits, with three walks and three strikeouts. Starks had two walks and one strikeout, allowing two hits and no earned runs.
In game two of the doubleheader, WHS lost by an 8-6 score.
The game saw WHS start with two runs in the top of the first, but SWHS also scored two runs in their half of the first inning.
South Webster scored two runs in the bottom of the second for a 4-2 lead, and WHS came back, tying the score in the top of the third with two runs, making the score 4-4.
After SWHS was scoreless in the top of the third, WHS gained the lead with another two-run inning in the top of the fourth, but the Jeeps scored three runs in the bottom of the same inning for a 7-6 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, South Webster added one last run for the two-run win.
The Wildcats finished the game with five hits as Michael was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, a double and a walk. Kiley went 1-for-4, and Jacen Applegate was 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a walk. Flader finished 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Walks for the Wildcats were credited to Zander Roades (two), Michael, Applegate, Clift, Starks and Caden Butler.
Michael had the loss in game two, where he allowed four earned runs, walked two batters and he totaled five strikeouts. Kiley also pitched for WHS, where he allowed one earned run, walked one and had two strikeouts.
After Saturday, WHS stands at 0-2 overall. They are scheduled to play again Monday, March 31 at home against the Paint Valley Bearcats at 5 p.m. in a non-conference game at Whiteoak High School.
